WHO WE ARE
Message from the CEO
About Us
The Roots (Separate Small Credit Unions)
- Around 1935, small credit unions were formed in Ambridge:
- One started by steel mill employees (this becomes the lineage tied to New Alliance FCU)
- Another (Ambridge Area FCU) was started by local teachers
- Like many credit unions of that era, they were community-based and occupation-focused.
Major Merger Creates the Modern Foundation
- Ambridge Area FCU (formerly A.B. Division FCU) merged with Armco FCU
- This merger is what formed what would become New Alliance Federal Credit Union
- This is the key “birth” of the organization in its recognizable form.
Establishing a Permanent Presence
- By 1991, the main branch was established on Merchant Street in Ambridge
- This marked the transition from a small merged CU into a stable community institution.
Continued Growth Through Partnerships & Mergers
- Like most credit unions, growth continued through strategic mergers and partnerships
- Recent example:
- Ambridge Area FCU merging into New Alliance FCU (2026)
